About The ECN Awards 2025

CHINT Shield sponsored the ECN Awards 2025 Categories: ‘Apprentice of The Year’ and ‘Training Provider/Initiative of the Year’
The Electrical Contracting News (ECN) Awards is an annual celebration of excellence, bringing together the electrical contracting industry’s leading innovators, companies, and individuals to recognise outstanding contributions to the sector.

This year’s event marked a record-breaking milestone, hosted at The Heart of England Conference and Events Centre with over 350 attendees; 100 more attendees than the previous year. The evening delivered an exceptional experience, featuring networking opportunities, entertainment highlights including a dance competition, and an unforgettable afterparty featuring a Take That tribute band. Guests enjoyed curated food and beverages throughout the night and built genuine connections within the industry.

A standout moment of the evening was the mystery box fundraiser, held in partnership with the Electrical Industries Charity, a longstanding non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of electrical industry professionals for over 120 years.
CHINT Shield’s second year of partnering with the ECN Awards
CHINT Shield returned as a headline sponsor for the 2025 ECN Awards, marking our second consecutive year supporting the event. Following our sponsorship of the drinks reception in 2024, we’re proud to deepen our commitment to celebrating industry excellence.

This year, CHINT Shield proudly returned as sponsor of the Training Category, recognising excellence in apprenticeship and vocational development within the electrical contracting sector.
Category Winners

The category featured two prestigious awards:
Jay Bamford – Apprentice of the Year
A121 Training Ltd – Training Provider/Initiative of the Year
These two awards were presented by Kelvin Drinkwater, CHINT Shield’s Head of Sales and Commercial, who took the opportunity to celebrate the outstanding contributions both winners have made to the electrical industry.
Congratulations to all the winners, highly commended nominees and finalists who were all recognised on the night for their achievements, including Christopher Horne, who took home the special achievement award for championing the sector over many, many years.

A Night to Remember at the ECN Awards 2025

Beyond the accolades, the CHINT Shield table made a memorable impression, with team members dressed in sharp tuxedos and thoroughly enjoying the evening’s entertainment, including a surprise appearance from the resident magician, a fan-favourite who returned for another year!
